“Dongguan man in uniform clashes with traffic police, sparking heated discussion among netizens.”

On November 3rd, in Chang’an Town, Dongguan City, on Changqing South Road, a man in uniform clashed with a traffic police officer. The man brandished a club and struck the officer, who responded by spraying pepper spray. According to netizens, the assailant may have been an auxiliary police officer.

Video footage uploaded by netizens shows a police motorcycle blocking a private car on Changqing South Road. The traffic police officer approached the private car, while the driver, wearing a blue shirt, got out of his car with a club and also approached the officer. The officer warned the man to “drop the weapon,” but the man refused and swung the club at the officer. The officer then sprayed what appeared to be pepper spray at the man, who coughed and then fetched water from his car to wash his face.

A shop owner on Changqing South Road in Dongguan told “Dawan News” on the 4th that the incident occurred around 5 p.m. on the 3rd. “There were hundreds of people on both sides of the road. We had to stand on tiptoes in the shop to see. Various rumors were circulating in our circle of friends, but the specific reason is unclear.”

In response to the incident, a knowledgeable netizen commented, “At the entrance to the hospital, a private car invaded the pedestrian walkway, and the motorcycle traffic police intercepted it. The auxiliary police officer in the private car disagreed and the altercation broke out. There was actually a street racing scene before this video, but unfortunately it wasn’t shared.”

Reporters from Dawan News contacted the Chang’an Traffic Police Brigade in Dongguan for more information. A staff member confirmed that the officer involved was a member of the motorcycle unit, but they did not disclose the identity of the “man in uniform.”

An official from the Chang’an Sub-bureau of the Public Security Bureau told “Dafeng News” that the man who got out of the private car had mental health issues, “his family didn’t control him well (he ran out), and he has been handed over to his family.”

On the afternoon of the 4th, the Chang’an Sub-bureau of the Dongguan Public Security Bureau announced that a man named Li, who was dressed in what appeared to be an auxiliary police uniform, ran a red light at an intersection in Chang’an Town while driving a white car. When stopped by the motorcycle patrol officer, Li pulled out a black short club to assault the officer, who used pepper spray to subdue him.

The announcement further stated that Li was not a police auxiliary staff member and that the uniform he wore that day was imitation, purchased online by himself.

The video sparked discussions online, with attention drawn to the shoulder patch of the man in the blue shirt. Some netizens asked, “What is written on the shoulder patch?” One netizen replied, “Auxiliary police.” Another netizen commented that it was fake, purchased online, and already reported. However, a netizen who watched the full video mentioned, “It’s real, the later part of the video wasn’t shared, and his colleagues came later.” Another netizen said, “The video was edited! The blue uniform is also worn by law enforcement units, and later several of his colleagues in law enforcement vehicles arrived.”

Netizens humorously remarked, “Dogs biting dogs.” “Is the civil war starting?” “Who supervises these two types of uniforms?” “Their combat power is indeed fierce.” And, “A lifelong thug, looked down upon even by juvenile delinquents – ’55-year-old man, the uniform he was wearing was purchased online.'”

Some netizens questioned, “He has been handed over to his family, dared to confront the police, and that’s it?” Another netizen replied, “Probably some connections, some backstage support. Using mental health issues as an excuse, not even knowing whether a psychological assessment was done, directly transferring him to the family, this completely violates procedural rules and is improperly releasing the person.”
