As “Double Eleven” approaches, Chinese tech enterprise DJI has announced promotional offers on its official website ahead of the event. Several products are marked down significantly on online platforms, with prices reduced by hundreds to over a thousand yuan, causing dissatisfaction among consumers who recently purchased related products and leading to returns and consumer rights protection actions.
DJII’s flagship store on JD.com has shown that the price reductions this time cover a variety of products including outdoor power supplies, gimbal cameras, action cameras, mobile stabilizers, wireless microphones, drones, and robotic vacuum cleaners.
Highlights of the discounts include the outdoor power supply Power 1000 V2 reduced by 900 yuan, Power 500 by 500 yuan, gimbal camera Pocket 3 with a maximum discount of 900 yuan, action camera Action 4 with a maximum discount of 1129 yuan, mobile stabilizer Mobile 7P reduced by 200 yuan, robotic vacuum cleaner ROMO with a maximum discount of 300 yuan, wireless microphone MIC 2 with a maximum discount of 800 yuan, Mini 4K aerial drone with a maximum discount of 1300 yuan, and aerial drone Mini 4 PRO with a maximum discount of 1478 yuan.
The store indicates that DJI’s Double Eleven event will start from October 9th, with the promotional period lasting from midnight on October 9th to 24:00 on October 14th.
It is worth noting that in August of this year, DJI released its first robotic vacuum cleaner series, ROMO; and at the end of July, DJI launched its first panoramic camera, Osmo 360. Both of these new products are also included in the price reductions.
The significant price drop activities have triggered dissatisfaction among many consumers who recently purchased DJI products soon to be discounted. Many consumers have expressed their grievances on social media and are taking steps to protect their rights. On October 8th, “Consumers who purchased DJI products ahead of price reductions seek returns and protection of rights” trended on Weibo.
According to a report by “Red Star News,” Mr. Hu from Wuhan, Hubei Province, stated that he had just received the DJI Osmo Action 4 he purchased from the Tmall official flagship store on September 29th, only to see news of the product’s upcoming price reduction on various platforms. He contacted customer service and was informed that price protection was available for seven days. Since he was within the 7-day return window upon receiving the product, he chose to return it without any reason.
However, users who made purchases from offline stores may not be able to enjoy price adjustments or unreasonable returns if the product has been activated and has no quality issues.
Mr. Li from Zhengzhou purchased the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 at an authorized experience store on September 20th. He said that the Pocket 3 has a 30-day no-reason return policy on platforms like JD.com. If he had bought it on JD.com, he would still be able to return it now. However, since he made an offline purchase, he is unable to protect his rights through price protection or similar methods.
When Mr. Li communicated with DJI sales on October 7th, he received the following response: “We do not have price protection for offline purchases. We also just received notice of the upcoming promotion a couple of days ago. If we had known beforehand, we would have advised potential customers not to buy for now and to wait for some time.”
In response, DJI’s online customer service stated, “Due to the different sales models of different channels, we cannot directly handle your price protection needs. You need to contact the salesperson at the corresponding store.”
In a response to “Nan Du Bay Financial Society,” DJI mentioned that the price adjustments this time are part of the routine promotional arrangements for “Double Eleven.” They have noted the attention and discussion sparked by this and are actively communicating through various channels to provide users with clear guidance and necessary support.
