Disgruntled Veteran Shen Aibin Condemns Wuxi Police for Abusing Power and Persecution

Former military personnel from Wuxi, Shen Aibin, came to the West Guesthouse in Nanjing in late September to report issues to the Central Inspection Team after experiencing three wrongful convictions. Local police from Wuxi followed him to Nanjing and brought him back, then detained him for 10 days on charges of violating public security regulations.

Upon his release on October 4, Shen Aibin issued a statement condemning the “unscrupulous and inhumane abuse of power by the corrupt judiciary in Wuxi, which continuously resorts to oppressive tactics against him. However, he vowed to never give up or surrender as long as he is alive.”

Shen Aibin told reporters that on October 4, nearly a hundred petitioners and friends from Wuxi went to the detention center to pick him up but were forcibly taken away by police officers and hired security guards. He was intentionally held until nearly noon before being released, to ensure that everyone waiting outside had been dispersed by the police.

On the morning of September 22, Shen Aibin went to the West Guesthouse in Nanjing to report to the Central Fifth Inspection Team about the unfair sentencing he faced in Wuxi. He also mentioned that his underage daughter was persecuted and sentenced. He claimed to have been subjected to various forms of abuse, including illegal use of criminal methods by public security, as well as exposure to strong electromagnetic radiation and high-frequency sonic attacks.

In the afternoon of September 22, the Chief of Liangxi Sub-bureau of the Wuxi Public Security Bureau, instructed officers to go to Nanjing to arrest him. After informing the Central Inspection Team of the situation, Shen Aibin decided to stay in Nanjing and did not return to Wuxi.

On the morning of September 23, as he was preparing to report his situation to the Central Inspection Team again at the West Guesthouse in Nanjing, he was confronted by a police officer from the Gulou Sub-bureau of the Nanjing Public Security Bureau who shouted at him not to use his phone. Despite complying and handing over his phone for inspection, Shen Aibin encountered resistance when the officer attempted to infringe on his privacy by scrolling through his phone content.

Feeling violated, he demanded the return of his phone, which resulted in the officer calling for reinforcements. Shen was forcibly taken to a room on the left side of the hallway by five or six police officers, without being informed of any wrongdoing.

Shen repeatedly questioned the officers about the reason for his detention, but received no response. He expressed his intention to report the incident to the Central Inspection Team and attempted to leave, only to be physically restrained and his belongings forcibly taken from him.

A superior officer arrived, requested to see Shen’s identification card, and subsequently ordered that he be handed over to Wuxi. Shen was escorted back to Wuxi by police officers from the Guangyi Police Station, where he was detained for allegedly obstructing police duties – an accusation he vehemently denied.

Shen lamented the abuse of power and lawlessness in Wuxi, where authorities act with impunity, committing human rights violations and fabricating false charges. He criticized the lack of a fair judicial system and accountability for unjust actions against the people.

Residents shared their sentiments, with one individual stating that government officials are behaving like bandits, abducting individuals unlawfully and violating their rights. They criticized the authorities for their blatant abuses of power and lack of accountability in handling the situation.

In conclusion, the prevailing sentiment was that the rule of law and justice are eroded when authorities act with impunity and trample on the rights of the people, highlighting the urgent need for accountability and justice in the legal system.
