Deputy Secretary of Guiyang Municipal Party Committee Under Investigation Less Than a Year in Office

Corruption scandals continue to rock the political scene in Guizhou as Huang Bo, the Deputy Secretary of the Guizhou Provincial Party Committee, was recently placed under investigation, following the downfall of Tang Dezhi, the Deputy Chairman of the Guizhou Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.

On September 28, the Guizhou Provincial Discipline Inspection Commission announced that Huang Bo, the Deputy Secretary of the Guizhou Provincial Party Committee, was under investigation. Public records show that Huang Bo was born in November 1975 and had previously held long-term positions in his hometown of Anshun, serving as the county magistrate of Guanling County, and later as the Secretary of the Guanling County Committee. In May 2021, he was promoted to become a member of the Anshun Municipal Party Committee and the Secretary-General of the Municipal Party Committee, and later served as the Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Guian New Area.

In October 2024, Huang Bo was appointed as the Deputy Secretary of the Guizhou Provincial Party Committee, but his tenure lasted less than a year before he came under investigation.

In July of this year, the 12th Central Inspection Team of the Chinese Communist Party entered Guizhou Province for a period of about two and a half months. The deadline for accepting petitions by the inspection team was set to September 23.

Reportedly, Huang Bo recently participated in several public activities. In September, he conducted on-site research in Daqing Village, Xiuwen County, and attended a “media integration policy inquiry field office meeting.” Just five days before his investigation was announced on September 23, Huang Bo also attended a relevant meeting.

Prior to Huang Bo, Tang Dezhi, the Deputy Chairman of the Guizhou Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, was reported to have fallen from grace on August 29. Tang Dezhi was the seventh senior official at the provincial level in Guizh
