Democratic Party State Assemblyman Introduces “Good Employment Security Act”

Two New York State lawmakers announced a proposal on May 14th to release $1 billion in private funds to create employment opportunities for over 20,000 low-income New Yorkers.

Assemblywoman Nily Rozic from the 25th District and State Senator Michael Gianaris introduced the “Good Jobs Guarantee Act,” which calls for the release of $1 billion to provide job training for job seekers without any upfront costs. Once participants secure high-paying jobs, they will contribute a small portion of their salary to help train the next group of individuals; if a participant loses their job or experiences a salary reduction, they will not be required to pay any fees – ensuring that those involved in the program will not be burdened with excessive debt like student loans.

“The ‘Good Jobs Guarantee Program’ is a groundbreaking proposal that will help meet the urgent demand for quality job opportunities and expand the technology workforce,” said State Senator Gianaris.

Assemblywoman Rozic stated, “I am proud to have joined Senator Gianaris in introducing this legislation to bring real change to the lives of thousands of New Yorkers.”
