On the eve of Mother’s Day, Chihang and Jingzhong Elementary Schools in Chiayi City held a series of activities to encourage children to express their love loudly, enriching their understanding of gratitude and expression. Chihang Elementary School organized parent-child aerobics, brass quintet performances, choir singing, gifting carnations, and classroom parent-child activities to celebrate the school’s Parent-Child Day, attracting over 800 parents. On the other hand, Jingzhong Elementary School had Principal Yang Xunkai dress up as a postman, collecting Mother’s Day cards written by students in each class to deliver blessings on their behalf.
Mayor Huang Minhui expressed anticipation for Mother’s Day, urging schools and families to collaborate in teaching children to express gratitude and respect for their mothers. Encouraging children to cherish and seize the time spent with their parents, she extended warm wishes to all the courageous and dedicated mothers safeguarding their families worldwide.
The Education Department stated that Chihang Elementary School chose the theme “The World Is Beautiful Because of You” for this year’s Mother’s Day celebration. On May 1st, Labor Day, parents were invited to the school to participate in a variety of activities that allowed students to express gratitude towards their parents through both physical and quiet activities, fostering parent-child bonding. The whole student body sang “The World Is Beautiful Because of You” and “A Little Love,” holding carnations and using pure voices to convey sincere love to their mothers and family members, creating a touching and heartwarming atmosphere. Despite their busy schedules, over 800 parents took the time to participate in the parent-child activities, from expressing love out loud to embracing each other tightly, leaving behind warm and cherished memories.
In celebration of Labor Day, the schools offered parents different stress-relief experiences. Professional visually impaired massage therapists collaborated with the city government to provide a special relaxation experience for hardworking parents. Students also presented Mother’s Day artwork displays expressing love and gratitude towards their families. Furthermore, English learning center teams set up booths for children to speak English with their mothers and receive small gifts. Artistic works such as portraits of mothers and Mother’s Day cards by children were displayed on the walls outside the audiovisual room, attracting parents to stop and appreciate.
Principal Yang Xunkai of Jingzhong Elementary School, dressed as a postman and riding a retro-style postal bicycle, collected heartfelt cards written by children in each class, aiming to allow children to express their love and accompany them to the post office to send out these blessings personally. Additionally, in partnership with the Morning Light Smart Development Center, Jingzhong Elementary School students and volunteers joined forces to offer warm coffee and refreshing drinks to the school’s staff and volunteers who care for the children on campus.
Director Guo Tiancai of the Education Department expressed gratitude for the well-organized activities by the schools. These heartwarming and meaningful events not only allowed children to experience the selfless love of mothers or caregivers but also inspired them to learn gratitude and care. This aligns with Chiayi City’s educational principles of promoting humanistic care and fostering sustainable development of good parent-child relationships. It is hoped that on this beautiful day, teachers, students, and parents will warm every mother’s heart with love and gratitude.
