The Czech government has issued a statement condemning hacker organizations affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party for launching cyber attacks on non-confidential networks. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) has responded, stating that Taiwan faces millions of cyber intrusions on a daily basis, with the majority originating from China. Taiwan empathizes with the similar threats faced by the Czech Republic.
On May 29, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China released a press release, noting that the Czech government confirmed that since 2022, the People’s Republic of China, through the hacker group APT31, has been continuously launching malicious attacks on the non-confidential network systems recognized by the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs as critical infrastructure.
The Czech government strongly condemned these actions and urged the Chinese Communist Party to abide by international rules and take all necessary measures to address this issue properly. Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky also accused the Chinese Communist Party of intervening in Czech society through manipulation, propaganda, and cyber attacks via social media.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China stated that Taiwan faces millions of cyber intrusions on a daily basis, with the majority originating from China. The frequency of these attacks is increasing daily, and Taiwan deeply empathizes with the similar threats faced by democratic countries such as the Czech Republic.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China pointed out that the Chinese Communist Party has long been engaging in hacker attacks, information warfare, and other gray-zone tactics to infiltrate and sabotage Taiwan and democratic countries globally, drawing widespread attention and condemnation from the international community. The Ministry sternly calls on the CCP to immediately cease such malicious cyber activities targeting democratic countries and to respect international norms and responsibilities.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China, Joseph Wu, reaffirmed Taiwan’s support and solidarity with the Czech Republic, emphasizing that any cyber attacks against sovereign states severely violate national security and information freedom, threatening the stability and operation of global democratic societies. As a responsible member of the global democratic camp, Taiwan will continue to strengthen cooperation with partners such as the Czech Republic and the European Union who share similar values, deepen cybersecurity exchanges, and enhance defense capabilities to collectively resist the threats posed by the Chinese Communist Party and other authoritarian regimes to democracy and information security.
