On the evening of August 3rd (last Sunday), overseas Chinese leader Cui Jingqian hosted a dinner at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar in Palo Alto, welcoming Deputy Director Zhu Yongchang of the Taiwan Representative Office, Director Zhuang Yashu of the Overseas Chinese Education Center, and several colleagues from the center. Over ten representatives from the overseas Chinese community in Northern California were also invited to attend, creating a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere for lively exchanges.
Cui Jingqian has been dedicated to overseas Chinese affairs for many years, striving to enhance the connection between the overseas Chinese community and mainstream society. Her outstanding contributions to the community have earned her the highest honor, the “First-Class Huaguang Medal,” awarded by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission, making her the first overseas Chinese leader in Northern California to receive this prestigious award. In her speech that evening, she expressed emotionally, “I see how hard they are really working. Of course, we should walk with them, support them, and help solve problems.”
Deputy Director Zhu Yongchang expressed gratitude for the long-term support from the overseas Chinese community and mentioned, “In just a month and a half, the Overseas Chinese Education Center has successively hosted the chairman, vice chairman, and chief secretary twice, also accommodating the ‘Taiwan Overseas Youth Ties Program’ and organizing the ‘Senior FASCA’ and other large events. Without a strong team and visionary leadership, it would be difficult to undertake such intensive and heavy workload. I see and deeply appreciate the dedication and support. It is evident that the good relationship established between overseas Chinese leaders and the Overseas Chinese Education Center allows everyone to work together and promote overseas Chinese affairs when it matters most.”
In response, Director Zhuang Yashu nodded in agreement, saying, “She is very supportive! Sister Cui is very supportive of us.”
The guests in attendance that evening also included Deputy Director Cai Jiahua of the Overseas Chinese Education Center, colleagues and their families, Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee members Lin Zhengyuan, Chen Yangming, Li Yuanlin, Zhang Zhengbang, and many other leaders of the overseas Chinese community in Northern California, all participating in this night of warm exchanges and camaraderie.
