Crocodile Escapes from Fish Farm in Zhongshan as Wall Collapses Due to Heavy Rain

On May 4th, heavy rain hit Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province, causing flooding in the area. The outer wall of a crocodile breeding farm in Shenzhen Town collapsed, leading to four crocodiles escaping.

According to netizens, the crocodile breeding pool at the Yugan Village Han Farm in Shenzhen Town, Zhongshan City, was washed away and some crocodiles escaped.

Southern Daily reported that the agricultural department in Shenzhen Town, Zhongshan City confirmed the incident. It was reported that four crocodiles escaped from the breeding pool, with three already returned but one still at large within the farm.

Local residents were instructed not to go outside due to the situation.

Netizens commented, “In Guangdong, the scary thing about crocodile escape is the crocodile itself…” “The scariest thing would be if they manage to catch all five.” “Fierce animals like crocodiles shouldn’t be bred, once there’s a flood they will escape and pose a danger to people.”

A local resident, Mr. Li from Shenzhen Town, Zhongshan City, told “Gaze News” that heavy rain began in the early hours of the 4th, lasting about 6 hours and causing flooding in multiple areas. During that time, the wall of a crocodile breeding farm at Gu You Village in Shenzhen Town collapsed, allowing crocodiles to escape.

Mr. Kuang, a local business owner in Shenzhen Town, also explained that the collapse of a crocodile breeding farm wall led to the crocodiles escaping.

Government officials in Shenzhen Town, Zhongshan City mentioned that due to the flooding, some trapped residents were evacuated. On the morning of the 4th, the wall of a crocodile breeding farm in the area collapsed.

By 11:35 am, Guangdong Province had issued a total of 34 storm warnings, with red storm warnings for Xinhui, Zhongshan, and Doumen. Some schools in Zhongshan City were closed. Videos circulating online showed floodwaters on the streets, with vehicles submerged and water reaching waist-high levels.

Previous reports indicated that due to the severe rainfall in Guangdong, knee-high floodwaters were seen in Zhongshan, and unnecessary trips in Zhuhai were discouraged.
