The Fourth Plenary Session of the Communist Party of China (CPC) was held in Beijing on October 20th, amidst escalated efforts to maintain stability by the authorities. Despite the tightening control, a large number of petitioners flooded into Beijing, but only a few of them have seen their issues resolved. The people expressed that the only hope for the survival of the Chinese people lies in rising up to overthrow the tyranny.
According to petitioners entering Beijing, the city resembled being under siege during the Fourth Plenary Session. Stringent inspections of identification documents at all entry points, interception of petitioners, and the city-wide screenings of non-local residents failed to deter the petitioners from reaching Beijing. Petitioners outside the Appeals Office swarmed like the tide.
A petitioner, Zhao Wei (pseudonym), told Epoch Times that a week ago, he rushed to Beijing where his friend was intercepted during a security check. “She dared not return to the rented apartment and ended up wandering outside, it’s really miserable.”
On October 19th, authorities dispatched 6 buses to take away some of the petitioners. Outside the Appeals Office, petitioners had to wait in line for at least 26 hours to obtain a token. Many people had to sleep on the ground at night, and some individuals inside the queue deliberately caused trouble, inciting chaos among the petitioners and leading to stampede incidents.
“Some people seemed to deliberately provoke chaos, creating a rush and resulting in people being trampled to death or injured, it was terrifying. Squeezed in there, people were almost flattened, I was really afraid of dying.” Zhao Wei said. The fact that a large number of petitioners were wandering on the streets of Beijing contradicts China’s self-proclaimed status as a “civilized country,” revealing the true plight faced by the grassroots people in China.
Zhao Wei expressed, “I just cannot understand, it’s like a group of refugees sleeping on both sides of the road, it feels like wartime. Doesn’t the CPC feel ashamed of causing such a spectacle? When I saw that scene, I felt really distressed for us suffering common people.”
In 2024, he had also petitioned in Beijing, back then one could queue from morning till night and still get a token, but this year the number of people queueing had significantly increased. “The government is too evil, these privileges are too brazen. They forcibly demolish other people’s homes and detain them when they come to petition.”
There are different perspectives on petitioning among the public. Some believe that this is a way the CPC indirectly controls the petitioners; others think that even though the issues are not resolved, stepping out will pressure the authorities; some also believe that only by overthrowing the tyranny can the people on the mainland have hope to survive.
Petitioner Wu Li stated that since Xi Jinping came to power, petitioners have been sentenced and locked up in prisons, and the human rights situation has hit rock bottom. “There are even petitioners dying in the prisons, it’s so cruel. The Communist regime must be overthrown.”
Another petitioner, He Wei (pseudonym), also called for resistance, stating, “There must be a struggle, the Communist Party fears the people’s resistance the most.”
