The new animated movie “Wonderful Tales of Meena,” which has caused a buzz in North American theaters, officially landed on the GJW+ streaming platform on September 12. In this modern adaptation of a fairy tale, a brave and strong princess is kidnapped by an evil sorcerer. Her fiancé, a knowledgeable but atypical hero, must embark on a journey to find her using his wits. Meanwhile, Meena herself bravely challenges her captors and plans a daring escape.
The film, directed by award-winning filmmaker Alex Tsitsilin (“Frozen” series), written by Analisa LaBianco (“Beverly Hills Chihuahua”) and Jeffery Spencer (“Magic Bureau”), features voice actors including Alyson Leigh Rosenfeld, Dan Edwards, Vanessa Johansson, and music by Sefi Carmel. The film has been praised as the “modern fairy tale for the new generation.”
After the evil sorcerer kidnaps Princess Meena, the king promises that whoever saves her can marry her and inherit the kingdom. While numerous suitors, including her non-typical hero fiancé Ronan, embark on adventurous journeys, Meena and other captive princesses decide to take control of their own destinies and bravely rescue themselves.
