Chongqing Wanzhou Water Park Electrocution Incident: Visitors Pass Out and Sent to Hospital

In Chongqing, Wanzhou, an electric leakage incident occurred at a waterfront amusement park, resulting in one visitor being electrocuted and three others being frightened. Currently, the implicated waterfront amusement park has temporarily suspended its operations.

A video circulated online shows a swimmer lying motionless by the poolside. A lifeguard wearing a yellow shirt attempts to pull the swimmer out. As soon as the lifeguard touches the swimmer, they quickly retract their hand, scream randomly, turn around, and run away, presumably having been shocked. Another lifeguard holding a wooden broom tries to move the unconscious swimmer aside, but their hand touches the railing, also presumably receiving an electric shock, causing them to slip and fall to the ground. Surrounding visitors were frightened and screamed, “There is electricity in there (the pool).”

According to the caption in the video, the electric leakage incident occurred at the Venice Waterfront Amusement Park in Wanzhou District.

On the 22nd, the investigative team of the Wanzhou Venice Waterfront Amusement Park released a report stating that the visitor’s electrocution incident took place around 7:30 p.m. on July 19. After preliminary investigation, it was found that the insulation layer of a street lamp circuit in the park was damaged, leading to the railing carrying electricity, resulting in one visitor being electrocuted, and three visitors being frightened. After receiving medical examinations, all four individuals were found to be unharmed and have already been discharged from the hospital.

Currently, the park has suspended its operations for equipment inspection and maintenance.
