Recently, the Sichuan and Chongqing areas have been experiencing prolonged high temperatures. However, after artificial rainfall operations were carried out in Chongqing on Monday (2nd), the entire city was hit by strong winds reaching up to level 12. According to the China Weather Network, starting from August 30, a new round of widespread high temperatures and scorching heat has emerged in South and East China. The high-temperature zone is rapidly expanding and affecting more than ten provinces and cities.
The core area of this heatwave is still concentrated in the Sichuan Basin, with intense and long-lasting heat. Since late August, stations in places like Shapingba, Beibei, Rongchang, Jiangjin in Chongqing, and Hejiang, Luxian in Sichuan have experienced continuous high temperatures exceeding 40℃ for 9 to 10 days.
According to reports from Hualong Net and Cover News, from September 2nd to 3rd, 17 districts and counties in Chongqing such as Qianjiang and Shapingba conducted artificial rain enhancement operations, launching a total of 158 cannonball shots, 37 rockets, and burning 24 smoke sticks.
After the official artificial rainfall in Chongqing, a “typhoon-level disaster” occurred in the area.
Monitoring data from Chongqing Meteorological Bureau showed that from September 2nd to 3rd, 70 meteorological observation stations in 20 districts and counties including Shapingba, Beibei, Yubei, Banan, Tongnan, Yongchuan, Jiangjin, Fuling in Chongqing recorded gusts of wind exceeding level 8, with the highest wind speed reaching 34.4 meters per second (Qijiang Yongxin experienced level 12 strong winds at 6 pm on the 2nd).
