Choi Ji-woo had disputes with her husband after marriage, revealing differences in parenting views

On June 23, South Korean actress Choi Ji-woo appeared on the parenting variety show “The Return of Superman” aired on KBS 2TV. During the show, she discussed the experience of having conflicts with her husband, who is 9 years younger than her, over their differing views on parenting their daughter.

Having been in the entertainment industry for 30 years, this was Choi Ji-woo’s first time appearing as a regular host on a parenting program, bringing along her 4-year-old daughter. In the episode, Choi Ji-woo mentioned that like any other couple, they also have disagreements over trivial matters.

She explained the reason for the conflicts: “At kindergarten, there are assignments for children. I hope our child can develop the habit of sitting quietly and completing the tasks. However, my husband thinks differently, saying, ‘Why make the child do homework? Homework should be done naturally while playing.’ In these aspects, we may have disagreements over small things.”

In the same episode, regular cast member Jason was shown celebrating his mother’s birthday by taking her and his son on a three-generation trip to Namhae Island. Namhae Island was the filming location for Choi Ji-woo and Bae Yong-joon’s drama “Winter Sonata.” Seeing the site where they had filmed, Choi Ji-woo remarked, “It looks different now, even more beautiful than when I was filming there.” She also mentioned that since the end of filming in 2002, she had not visited Namhae Island and expressed her desire to visit with her daughter.

Choi Ji-woo married her boyfriend who is 9 years younger than her on March 29, 2018. In December 2019, she announced her pregnancy and gave birth to her daughter in May 2020.
