On the evening of December 1, a Chinese man suddenly burst into the banquet hall of Hotel MiraCosta at Tokyo DisneySea in Urayasu City, Japan, brandishing a knife approximately 20 centimeters long for a few minutes before fleeing the scene. The police arrested him the following day (December 2) in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture, and it was revealed that he was a former employee of the event hosting company.
According to a report by Asahi Shimbun, the Japanese police received a report around 8:10 p.m. on December 1 that “someone with a knife entered” the banquet venue at Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta in Urayasu City, Chiba Prefecture. At the time, a party was taking place in the banquet hall when a man entered, took out an object resembling a knife approximately 20 centimeters long from his backpack, calmly waved the knife for about 5 minutes before fleeing the banquet hall. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident.
Based on a report by Japan’s TBS News, the man fled towards JR Maihama Station after the incident. The police deduced that he escaped by taking a train and immediately launched a pursuit. Sources involved in the investigation revealed that the police located the man in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture. The man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous behavior, pointing a knife at acquaintances attending the party, under the violation of the Violence Act.
Investigations revealed that the man was a former employee of the company using the banquet hall at that time, with a previous colleague relationship with the victims. Police suspect that there was some sort of dispute between the two individuals and are currently questioning the man in detail to clarify his motive for entering the banquet hall and the circumstances surrounding the entire incident.
