After the tragic death of Chinese actor Yu Menglong on September 11 by falling from a building, his number of followers on Weibo has not decreased but instead increased. As of October 2, it has grown by over a million.
Yu Menglong’s account is set to “visible for half a year.” If there are no new updates, all posts will be cleared after six months. According to reports from United Daily News, this has caused concern among his fans, who are rushing to back up the content.
Furthermore, at the time of Yu Menglong’s death on September 11, he had over 26 million followers on Weibo. As of October 2, not only has the number of his followers not decreased, but it has increased to 27.715 million. Within just over 20 days, he has gained over a million new followers.
Strangely, some netizens recently discovered traces of “logged in” activity on Yu Menglong’s Weibo account after his death.
Screenshots shared by users show that on the night of September 29, Yu Menglong’s account briefly showed an online status before going offline, leading to speculation that someone might be controlling his account. Some have speculated that “the online record before his death was not actually him.”
On September 11, the eve of Yu Menglong’s passing, several netizens wrote that at 9:31 pm on September 10, the “Yu Menglong Super Topic” showed him online. Such discussions have reignited doubts surrounding the incident.
