Chinese Communist Party Sends Tibetan Toddlers to Boarding Schools, Depriving Them of Tibetan Culture

The Chinese Communist Party’s rule is based on atheism, and as a result, it has always taken a hostile and destructive attitude towards traditional culture. For the past 20 years, the CCP has been sending Tibetan children to public boarding schools at increasingly younger ages in an attempt to dismantle Tibetan culture and weaken generations of resistance to the CCP’s dictatorship.

According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, the longstanding resistance of Tibetans to the CCP has left the authorities feeling frustrated. Therefore, the Chinese government is investing billions of dollars in constructing schools in various areas of Tibet. This educational initiative includes a full-time kindergarten that forcibly separates Tibetan children as young as 4 years old from their families, depriving them of the opportunity to absorb the Tibetan language and way of life. Instead, Tibetan children are taught in Mandarin.

In addition to providing children with basic knowledge and skills, the curriculum at the kindergarten also glorifies the CCP and Chinese identity. Slogans on campus read, “I am a Chinese child who loves to speak Mandarin,” and teachers stage skits to tell Tibetan children that their clothing, food, and happiness are all “given by the Communist Party.”

Professor Li Yuanhua from Capital Normal University stated in an interview with Epoch Times reporters on July 2 that this is a longstanding practice of the CCP, but in recent years, the pace has accelerated. The CCP aims to promote its authoritarian culture by eradicating the Tibetan language and cultural traditions, hoping to undermine Tibetan culture and compel Tibetans to submit to the CCP’s authoritarian rule.

After graduating from kindergarten, most Tibetan students move on to boarding schools covering grades one to six. The schools impose strict requirements on the students, sometimes preventing them from returning home for several weeks or months. They learn almost exclusively in Mandarin and are supervised by teachers and administrators, many of whom are Han Chinese and do not speak Tibetan.

Li Yuanhua noted that children are now being sent for boarding education at increasingly younger ages, starting as young as 4 years old. This cutoff from their own culture, even from their family ties, reflects the sinister intentions of the CCP, making it very clear to everyone. Brainwashing children from a young age with CCP culture education may render it extremely difficult for them to communicate with their Tibetan-speaking family members.

A 21-year-old woman interviewed stated that she left China in the fall of 2024. Her younger relatives, as young as 6 years old, attend boarding schools where Mandarin is the language of instruction. They have difficulty communicating with their parents and grandparents, who only know a little Mandarin. This weakens Tibetan children’s connection to their culture and ethnic identity.

Li Yuanhua emphasized that the CCP’s goal is to isolate Tibetan cultural traditions, cut off the transmission of Tibetan culture, and brainwash Tibetans to be loyal to the CCP’s authoritarian regime. For years, students from minority ethnic regions have been sent to inland China for university education, where they are subjected to so-called Sinicization to become loyal to the authoritarian state, before returning to their hometowns to serve as officials.

A Uyghur restaurant owner named Si Yue, from mainland China, revealed to Epoch Times that the CCP does not treat ethnic minority individuals as human beings. His father was beaten to death in a concentration camp, his sister was also taken away and has since disappeared without a trace, whether alive or dead. When he was young, he managed to escape with his aunt, leaving behind relatives whose children were required to attend boarding schools and rarely returned home, causing their native culture to slowly vanish.
