Chinese Coast Guard Ship Again Enters Kinmen Waters, Taiwan Coast Guard Issues Warning to Drive Them Away

The Taiwan Coast Guard Administration of the Ocean Affairs Council of the Republic of China dispatched three patrol boats in the waters near Kinmen in the early hours of this morning (25th) to drive away a fleet of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) maritime patrol boats that were disturbing Taiwan’s territorial waters. The entire operation lasted for about 2 hours.

According to a press release from the Taiwan Coast Guard Administration’s Kinmen, Matsu, and Penghu Division, at around 5 a.m. this morning, they detected the gathering of four CCP patrol boats with hull numbers “14609,” “14603,” “14513,” and “14605” and immediately deployed patrol boats to respond. The aforementioned patrol boats entered the restricted waters near Kinmen in two groups of two boats each, advancing from the east of Beiding in Kinmen and the south of Fuxing Islet.

The Coast Guard Administration dispatched three patrol boats, adopted a coordinated monitoring approach, and provided continuous evidence collection and warnings. The CCP patrol boats navigated into the waters between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m., with the entire operation lasting about 2 hours, during which the Coast Guard Administration escorted the CCP vessels out of the restricted waters.

The Taiwan Coast Guard Administration pointed out that the intentional fleet intrusion by the CCP patrol boats into Kinmen’s waters was clearly provocative. Such actions by the CCP patrol boats not only disrupt the emotional connection between the people of Kinmen and Xiamen but also hinder equal exchanges between the two sides, highlighting the importance of recognizing regional peace and stability. The Coast Guard Administration affirmed its commitment to safeguarding the nation’s maritime rights with a firm stance.

Earlier, the Coast Guard Administration stated that CCP patrol boats had deliberately intruded into Taiwan’s outlying island waters seven times in May, affecting maritime safety and disrupting peace and stability, with no benefit to equal exchanges between the two sides.
