On October 16th, Zhou Runqi stated in the video that on the 14th in New South Wales, Australia, three local indigenous people verbally attacked him and his wife on a bus, including phrases like “get off our turf.” The situation escalated into a physical confrontation, during which Zhou Runqi sustained a head injury and started bleeding profusely on the spot.
He mentioned that after the incident, he was taken to the hospital for treatment and even lost consciousness in the ambulance. Two assailants were arrested following the altercation.
Zhou Runqi concluded the video by saying that after cooperating with the local authorities for the investigation, he plans to return to China for further recovery.

The video of Zhou Runqi being attacked has stirred discussions online. Some local netizens shared positive experiences, with one saying, “I have been in Australia with my family for over a decade and never encountered any discrimination. Every white person I’ve interacted with has been very kind. I remember when I was sitting on the sidewalk exhausted from shopping, an elderly couple immediately approached me asking if I needed any help…”
On the other hand, some netizens expressed negative views, stating, “Many Chinese people have been brainwashed by the communist culture, have too many bad habits, do not pay attention to their public image, and cause trouble for overseas Chinese. Since the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) spread the COVID-19 pandemic, foreigners have been attacking Chinese people.” “A small number of Chinese people behave rudely overseas, lack integrity, and exhibit other bad habits, resulting in discrimination against Chinese people.”
The incident involving Zhou Runqi serves as a reminder of the complexities and challenges faced by individuals of Chinese descent living abroad. It also highlights the importance of fostering mutual respect and understanding among diverse communities to prevent such unfortunate events from reoccurring.
