Chinatown Health Day Promotion to be Held Inside East Joy Mall on April 25

On April 25th (Thursday) from 10 AM to 3 PM, the Asian American Physicians Association, the New York Chinese Chamber of Commerce, and the Chinatown Development Corporation will jointly hold the “Chinatown Health & Wellness Fair” at the East Broadway Mall located at 88 East Broadway in Manhattan. This event will not only provide the latest health information but also offer free health check-ups suitable for people of all ages, including various eye disease screenings for elderly residents. The event is free for all, and the public is encouraged to participate.

One of the organizers of the “Chinatown Health & Wellness Fair,” Yu Jinshan, founder of the New York Chinese Chamber of Commerce and a Democratic district leader, mentioned that this event is a collaboration between the Asian American Physicians Association (CAIPA) and the Chinatown Development Corporation. With the coordination of CAIPA, nearly thirty health insurance companies have been invited to participate. Aside from providing the venue for the event, the New York Chinese Chamber of Commerce will have over twenty dedicated volunteers assisting with the activities on the day of the event and in the preparation leading up to it. “We are looking forward to the Health Day on the 25th; this is one of the most meaningful public welfare activities for the Chinatown community,” Yu Jinshan said.

Shirley Huang, the Director of Public Relations at the Asian American Physicians Association, expressed that due to the impact of the pandemic, small businesses in Chinatown have struggled in recent years, leading to a bleak situation in the community. The goal of this Health Day event is to bring much-needed vitality back to the community, as the event’s theme suggests, “Reviving Chinatown.” In addition to revitalizing the area, the event will also provide the public with the latest health information and various free physical check-ups. It is hoped that this charitable event will promote public awareness of health and improve the quality of life and health standards in the Chinese community.

Chen Zuozhou, Executive Director of the Chinatown Development Corporation, emphasized that health is the most valuable asset of humanity, with well-being leading to happiness. The Chinatown Development Corporation is honored to co-organize the health event with the Asian American Physicians Association, the New York Chinese Chamber of Commerce, and a multitude of health insurance companies. The team is committed to actively assisting and collaborating to ensure the smooth running of the Health Day event.
