“China Wants Russian Nuclear Submarine and Missile Defense System Technology”

U.S. Secretary of State Blinken and British Foreign Secretary Rami just visited Kyiv. Blinken hinted that the United States is about to lift restrictions on Ukraine using Western-provided long-range weapons to attack military targets within Russia, and stated that the U.S. will continue to adjust its policies to respond to changes in the situation on the Ukrainian battlefield. This may be related to Iran providing ballistic missiles to Russia.

In the past, the CCP imported a lot of military technology from Russia, ranging from artillery, tanks, missiles, air defense systems, rocket launchers, radar, fighter jets, warships, submarines, and nearly all aspects of land, sea, and air forces. Through imitation, it has developed a large number of domestic products. In fact, there are still many things in Russia that the CCP wants, including special metal smelting technology, liquid rocket engines, nuclear submarines, new anti-missile missiles, and more.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russia’s surface warships, especially large warships, were in a state of decline, but they have continued to research and produce nuclear submarines and diesel-electric submarines to make up for the lack of surface warships. China imported 12 Kilo-class diesel-electric submarines from Russia, greatly enhancing China’s conventional submarine technology. However, for national strategic deterrence, nuclear-powered submarines are more needed, and in this respect, China’s progress is limited, eagerly hoping to receive technical support from Russia.

In addition to attack nuclear submarines, Russia’s strategic nuclear submarines are more powerful and advanced. The gap between China’s strategic nuclear submarines and Russia’s is enormous, even greater compared to the United States. Russia’s latest strategic nuclear submarines include three 955-class Borei-class and four 955A-class Borei-A-class.

The technology level of the Yasen M and Borei-class submarines far exceeds that of China’s nuclear submarines, which is the technology China most desires to acquire. However, whether Russia will provide it or not depends on the extent of China’s support.

In addition to nuclear submarines, China also greatly desires Russia’s anti-missile technology. Russia has always guarded against technological imitation by China, so while the S-300 can be sold in large quantities to China, when it comes to the S-400, Russia is very cautious. Although it eventually decided to sell, it is not as much as to India, and the delivery time can also be delayed, later than to India. Currently, Russia’s pride lies in the S-500 anti-missile system. Faced with the constantly strengthening medium-range missiles of the United States, Taiwan, and Japan, China also inevitably wants to acquire this anti-missile missile.
