China Sends 27 Warships to Disrupt Taiwan’s Referendum and Recall Vote

**Taiwan Holds Referendum on Restarting Nuclear Plant Three and Recall Vote on Seven Kuomintang Legislators**

In Taiwan today, voting took place for a national referendum on the restart of Nuclear Plant Three and the recall of seven Kuomintang legislators. The Chinese Communist Party has been sending 27 warplanes and warships to provoke Taiwan for three consecutive days. The Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China has stated that the military is closely monitoring and responding to the situation.

The national referendum in Taiwan is regarding the restart of Nuclear Plant Three. The main text of the referendum reads, “Do you agree to continue the operation of the third nuclear power plant after the competent authority confirms that there are no safety concerns?” The voting ballot is white and Taiwanese citizens over the age of 18 have the right to vote in the referendum.

The second wave of recall votes for legislators in Taiwan includes seven Kuomintang legislators, namely Luo Mingcai, Jiang Qichun, Yang Qiongying, Yan Kuanheng, Lin Siming, Ma Wenjun, and You Hao. The voting period is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and voters are required to bring their national ID, seal, and voting notification.

This morning, the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China released information on the activities of the Chinese military near the Taiwan Strait. From 6 a.m. on the 22nd to 6 a.m. today, a total of 22 Chinese warplanes (18 of which crossed the median line of the strait into the northern and southwestern airspace) and 5 warships have been detected, totaling 27 Chinese warplanes and warships operating near the Taiwan Strait.

According to the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China, activities of the Chinese military entering the airspace near the Taiwan Strait were captured on a diagram from 7:10 a.m. on the 22nd until 6 a.m. today, showing 12 Chinese fighter jets and drones, with 8 of them crossing the median line of the strait.

In addition, the Taiwanese military detected 10 Chinese fighter jets and drones from 8:25 a.m. to 8:40 p.m. on the 22nd in the southwestern airspace of Taiwan.
