In a competitive job market in China, the China Nuclear Industry Group recently announced its spring campus recruitment plan to hire 8,000 people, but received nearly 1.2 million resumes, sparking controversy.
On the evening of March 6, the China Nuclear Industry Group responded by saying that for the 2025 campus recruitment, they offered a total of 1,730 job positions, with an estimated hiring of about 8,000 individuals. Each student could apply for up to 20 positions simultaneously, aiming to achieve a precise match between job demands and the talents, skills, and preferences of the applicants.
Prior to this, the official WeChat account of the group released a message stating that they had received 1,196,273 resumes and deemed the campus recruitment presentation a success. This number equates to almost 10% of the over 12 million university graduates nationwide this year submitting resumes to China Nuclear Industry Group, triggering discussions online.
Many netizens expressed their views, questioning whether this was good news. Some commented on the high level of competition and the large number of job seekers, questioning the company’s decision to publicize the overwhelming number of applications. Others criticized the company for potentially using the struggles of job seekers as a bragging point. Some sarcastically remarked on the seemingly unbeatable employment rate boasted by the company.
Following the online reaction, China Nuclear Industry Group deleted the post.
