Changsha police report on the case of Finance Department Director Liu Wenjie, public doubts.

On September 19, after Liu Wenjie, the director of the Hunan Provincial Department of Finance, fell to her death, online rumors emerged that she was thrown off the building by two men (Jiang Yihui and Jiang Hui) due to debt disputes. On September 20, the Changsha police released details of the case, but there remains skepticism among the public regarding the incident.

In the evening of September 20, the Tianxin Sub-bureau of the Changsha Public Security Bureau in Hunan announced that at 9:31 am on the morning of September 19, they received a report that three people fell to their deaths from the 13th floor of Building 2, No. 1, Chengnan West Road.

Liu Wenjie (female, 58 years old) was from Liuyuan, Hunan, and lived in Room 13XX of Building 2, No. 1, Chengnan West Road.

The suspect, Jiang Yihui (male, 31 years old), registered in Wukou, Pingjiang County, Hunan, is the legal representative and shareholder of Tianhao Industrial Co., Ltd. in Pingjiang County. From 2019 to 2022, he engaged in furniture business in other provinces and gambled in Macao multiple times, accumulating debts of over 12 million yuan.

The other suspect, Jiang Hui (male, 35 years old), also registered in Wukou, Pingjiang County, Hunan.

Through surveillance footage and witness inquiries, preliminary investigation revealed that on September 18 at 2:57 pm, Jiang Yihui and Jiang Hui entered the residential complex at No. 1 Chengnan West Road to reconnoiter. At 12:27 am on September 19, the two suspects left the residential complex and spent the night on the rooftop stairs of a hotel across the street.

At 6:49 am and 7:07 am, Jiang Yihui and Jiang Hui successively entered Building 2, No.1 Chengnan West Road and lay in wait on the 13th-floor stairwell. When Liu Wenjie opened her door to leave the house, the two suspects, armed with knives, kidnapped her into the room.

Video footage shows that at 9:12 am, both Liu Wenjie and Jiang Yihui fell from the balcony simultaneously (with signs of struggle on the balcony). At 9:17 am, Jiang Yihui attempted to escape by tying two curtains together and lowering himself through the window to the 12th floor but tragically fell to his death.

Upon investigation, it was found that furniture and clothing in Liu Wenjie’s home were extensively rummaged through. Two black backpacks left by the suspects were discovered in the 13th-floor stairwell, containing tools such as a hook-tipped nylon rope (about 3 meters), rubber gloves, and pliers.

There was no evidence found of any prior connection between Liu Wenjie, her family, and the two suspects before the incident.

Netizens analyzed the situation with differing opinions. Some questioned how the suspects were able to target and abduct the Director, while others raised concerns about the suspects’ daring escape plan using the window. The motive behind the incident remains unclear to many.

On the day of the incident, several sources informed the media that the other two individuals who fell with Liu Wenjie had links to her work. However, the reasons behind the fall remain undisclosed pending police investigations.

Moreover, circulating information revealed that Jiang Yihui is a member of the Political Consultative Conference in Pingjiang County, Hunan, known to drive a luxury car with the number plate Xiang F67052 (Maserati brand). Public records also show that Jiang Yihui is registered as the owner of multiple companies.

There are also rumors suggesting deeper implications in the case, potentially involving Li Wewei, a former high-ranking female official in Hunan who was ousted in July this year.

Public information indicates that Li Wewei served in various roles in Hunan for nearly 40 years, including positions such as Minister of the United Front Department and Secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Committee of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee. She was later appointed as the Chairwoman of the Hunan Provincial Political Consultative Conference in 2016, earning the rank of a high-ranking official. However, she was removed from her position in July this year, becoming the first high-ranking official to be ousted after the 18th National Congress of the CPC.

Critics have speculated on the complexity of the case, hinting at possible financial disputes and power struggles within the provincial government. The tragic death of Director Liu Wenjie has sent shockwaves through the politics of Hunan, with many questions arising surrounding the incident and its potential implications on the local government.

It is clear that the mysterious circumstances surrounding Liu Wenjie’s demise highlight the murky and ruthless nature of the political landscape in Hunan, where the Director of Finance holds significant power and often becomes a focal point for political dynamics at the provincial level. The true motives behind Liu Wenjie’s murder likely remain shrouded in secrecy, shedding light on the enigmatic nature of political intrigue in Hunan.
