To celebrate the 113th National Day of the Republic of China, the Los Angeles Arts Alliance Foundation Chairman Tang Shuhui and the incoming President of the Southern California Alumni Association jointly organized a “Poster Design and Flower Arrangement Exhibition” at the Overseas Chinese Cultural and Educational Center in Los Angeles on September 27 and 28.
Tang Shuhui curated nearly 70 posters she designed over the years for Chinese community events. She expressed gratitude to Chen Linghua, Vice President of the World Chinese Business Women’s Association, and others for their long-term support, which allowed her to utilize her expertise for public service. Each poster evoked fond memories for the viewers who had participated in the events.
Impressed by the posters, Chen Linghua reminisced about the challenges and joys she and Tang Shuhui faced while creating them. Chen had been involved in nearly two-thirds of the 70 posters, often working late into the night with Tang to discuss every detail, be it text or color patterns. Chen also thanked the collective efforts of the overseas Chinese community for preserving these beautiful memories, urging talented individuals within the community to showcase their skills and contribute, making the community even more vibrant.
Meanwhile, Zeng Xiangyu prepared over 20 flower arrangements provided by students. With 23 years of experience in floral design education in Southern California, she chose elegant and fresh orchids as the main floral theme to complement the “poster” exhibition, in celebration of the National Day. These floral arrangements garnered much admiration from visitors, with many already being reserved. Zeng mentioned that proceeds from the purchased flowers would be donated to charitable organizations.
Chairman of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission of the Republic of China, Xu Jiaqing, extended her wishes for the success of the 113th National Day celebration in Los Angeles through a video message. She expressed gratitude to compatriots for their hard work and achievements overseas, bringing honor and success to Taiwan, as well as their continuous support and dedication, enhancing the visibility of the Republic of China on the international stage.
Chen Minyong, Director of the Overseas Chinese Cultural Center in Los Angeles, commented that it was the first time in his many years of engaging in overseas Chinese affairs that he had seen a National Day poster exhibition. The combination of floral art and posters complemented each other exceptionally well. Chen, along with Chen Linghua, Overseas Affairs Commissioner Yu Renhao, Overseas Affairs Advisory Commissioner Xu Hanmei, Secretary-General of the Chinese World Association Pan Yiling, President of the Chinese World Southern California Chapter You Huiling, and incoming President Li Minhua, participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the opening ceremony.
