A spokesperson from the Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese Communist Party, Shi Yi, said that starting from April 1, the Chinese military’s Eastern Theater Command has organized land, sea, air, and rocket forces to conduct joint exercises near Taiwan.
Minister of National Defense of the Republic of China, Gu Liuxiong, stated in a media interview before attending the Legislative Yuan on the morning of the 1st that since the dispatch of the Chinese aircraft carrier Shandong on March 29, the ROC military has been monitoring the situation and preparing to respond to any related actions by Chinese air and naval forces. After the announcement of the exercises by the Chinese Communist Party, the ROC military has been vigilant and established a contingency center at 9:00 am to fully understand the situation.
Gu Liuxiong emphasized that the Chinese Communist Party’s exercises clearly demonstrate their intention to disrupt regional peace and stability, making them a significant troublemaker. Recent media reports have highlighted issues of corruption within the Chinese military, and Gu suggested that they should focus on resolving internal problems instead of engaging in actions that threaten the current peace situation in the region.
