According to an official announcement from the Huadu Branch of the Guangzhou Public Security Bureau on Weibo, at 5:47 pm on December 5, a traffic accident occurred on Huacheng North Road in Huadu District, injuring four people.

The report indicated that the 43-year-old driver surnamed Zhang was detained at the scene. It was mentioned that the injured individuals were not in life-threatening condition. Last night, surveillance footage from the streets of Huadu, Guangzhou circulated online, capturing a white sedan initially colliding with vehicles on the road before abruptly turning left, speeding onto the sidewalk. Several electric bicycle riders and pedestrians were instantly sent flying as a result of the collision. The vehicle then crashed into a pillar, severely damaging the front end, with no sign of the driver exiting the car.

Subsequent videos depicted a chaotic scene with at least two pedestrians lying on the ground and unresponsive, leading some internet users to fear the worst. Some online speculations suggested that the incident appeared to be a deliberate act of hitting pedestrians based on the behavior of the driver at the scene.
