Car Crashes Through Guardrail and Falls Into River in Dazhou, Sichuan, One Person Dead.

Tragedy Strikes During May Day Holiday in China Once Again

Another fatal accident occurred during the “May Day” holiday in China. On May 4th, a car in Dazhou, Sichuan, veered at a turn on Zhouluo Bridge, crashed through the bridge railing, and plunged into the river, resulting in one fatality.

According to the Traffic Police Detachment of Dazhou Public Security Bureau in Sichuan Province, on May 5th, they reported that a small car accident occurred at the intersection of Tahuan Road in Tongchuan District and Zhouluo Bridge on May 4th around 18:47. There were two people in the car, one of whom was rescued. Currently, the car involved in the accident has been salvaged ashore, and the driver, Mr. Fan, has been confirmed deceased. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Video footage at the scene shows a black car being lifted from the river, with severe damage to the front of the vehicle.

According to a report by the Netease account “Jiu Fang Yu Lun,” after witnesses saw the car plunge into the river, a woman quickly surfaced, and three people on the shore immediately jumped in to rescue her. However, there was no sign of the driver.

A rescue worker told Southern Metropolis Daily that the deceased female driver was trapped in the driver’s seat, “she was around twenty years old.”

The incident has once again raised concerns about road safety during holidays in China. It serves as a reminder for drivers to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations, especially during peak travel seasons. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the accident to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
