Taiwanese singer Cao Yawen, known as the queen of Taiwanese songs, has been facing health struggles recently while preparing for her album “Forbidden”. She suffered from anorexia, resulting in a drastic weight loss of 16 kilograms. Today, at the press conference for the “2024 True Love Show: Sapphire Grand Ballroom”, she appeared noticeably thinner once again. She admitted that her appetite has worsened due to preparations for her upcoming international tour, causing her to lose 10 kilograms in just one month. Concerned about her health, she sought medical advice.
During the press conference today (watch the video on Facebook), Cao Yawen shared in an interview, “I haven’t been able to eat anything for the past month, I can’t even drink water. Whenever I try to drink water or eat, I end up throwing it all up.” As a result, her weight has continued to drop. While visiting the doctor recently, tests showed that she is physically healthy. Despite this, she is struggling to force herself to eat.
In a Facebook post last month, Cao Yawen revealed the fluctuation in her weight, attributing it to the hectic schedule of working on her album. She mentioned experiencing health issues including gastroesophageal reflux disease while working tirelessly. However, she expressed relief that her condition improved after receiving medical treatment, evident from her brighter complexion in recent photos.
Nevertheless, today as she made a public appearance to promote the 2024 “True Love Show: Sapphire Grand Ballroom”, Cao Yawen’s cheeks appeared sunken (watch the video), and her overall frame displayed noticeable thinness because she is unable to indulge in food.
According to the report by Liberty Times, Hu Gua, who was present at the event, expressed his concern for Cao Yawen’s health. He had previously inquired about her dramatic weight loss and learned that the pressure of producing an album had caused her poor appetite. He also expressed worry that Cao Yawen’s performance in August at the Kaohsiung Pop Music Center may be impacted due to her current health condition.
Today, Cao Yawen took to the stage to perform the Taiwanese song “Life of an Artist” at the press conference. She expressed joy at being part of the cultural experience of the show and appreciated the opportunity to participate.
