California-born Chinese mixed triplets graduate from the same university with the same major

Three Chinese-American triplets from California are set to graduate from the same university with identical majors. The triplets, who are of Chinese and Caucasian descent, hail from Oakland, California. Their names are Maile Young, Ke’ale Young, and Makana Young. Their father, Kaipo Young, is of Chinese descent, while their mother, Dana Young, is Caucasian.

The trio of sisters are on track to graduate with top honors from San Diego State University, all earning Bachelor of Science degrees in Integrated Marketing and Communications, with minors in Interdisciplinary Studies.

In an email to People magazine, the triplets shared that attending university together has fostered a healthy yet supportive sense of competition, ultimately helping them achieve their individual goals.

Growing up as triplets, they explained in a joint statement, there has always been a positive competition amongst them. Being in the same class, walking similar paths, they found themselves constantly comparing themselves to one another.

Over time, this comparison evolved into motivation. They highlighted the advantage of having a constant study partner: someone to challenge them, hold them accountable, and encourage them to be their best selves in and out of the classroom.

As they stated, “Each of our successes is a shared victory, reminding us of the strength we gain through our collective growth.”

According to a report from local TV station KTVU in Oakland, their father, Kaipo Young, expressed pride in his daughters, noting their independence and mutual support.

Despite following similar paths in university, the sisters deliberately opted to study in different countries to experience independent lives apart from one another.

They took to their social media accounts to express gratitude for San Diego State University, sharing photos of themselves in white graduation attire.

As reported by NBC 7 San Diego, a local news affiliate, the sisters have been hired by a company in their hometown of Oakland as paid social media experts following their graduation.

In a recent interview with the TV station, the triplets expressed readiness to embrace the next chapter of their lives, whether together or apart.
