For the past 30 years, a man in Massachusetts, USA, has been using the same set of numbers to purchase lottery tickets. Now, his luck has finally come. Last week, the lottery ticket he bought with this lucky number combination won him a jackpot prize of $2.64 million.
According to WBZ TV station, the man named Kevin Connor lives in Leicester. He hit the jackpot of $2.64 million on the Megabucks lottery ticket on August 24. He chose to receive a one-time payment of $1.8 million before taxes.
The Massachusetts State Lottery reported that Connor has been using the same numbers to play the lottery for 30 years. These numbers combine his wife’s favorite numbers with their previous home phone number when they first started dating.
On August 21, after playing a round of golf at a golf club, Connor purchased the winning Megabucks lottery ticket. The golf club received a bonus of $26,400 for selling the ticket.
Connor told the lottery company that he found out about his big win while vacationing with his family in Maine.
He said, “I woke up on Sunday morning, August 25, picked up my phone, opened the app directly, and went straight to my Jeep to get the ticket, making sure my numbers were correct.”
Apart from using the money to pay for his children’s college tuition, he also plans to treat himself to some new socks.
The lottery company stated that this is the fourth jackpot win since the Megabucks redesign in November 2023.
The winning numbers drawn were 5-6-8-9-24-32, with odds of winning the jackpot being 1 in 7,059,052.
In a similar lucky incident in Massachusetts, just last month, a man had a dream about buying a lottery ticket, went out to purchase it, and ended up winning a $1 million jackpot, turning his dream into reality.
As reported by WWLP TV station, the man named Howard Kendall Jr. from Plymouth dreamed of spending $10 on a scratch card lottery ticket. Upon waking up, he decided to try his luck and bought the same ticket, which eventually won him $1 million.
He opted for a one-time payout of $650,000. He plans to use the money to help his children and grandchildren. The convenience store that sold the winning ticket received a bonus of $10,000.
Three years ago, a lucky woman in Massachusetts bought a winning $1 million scratch card lottery ticket but accidentally discarded it. Luckily, the kind store owner found the ticket, informed her of the win, and she was ecstatic and couldn’t believe her luck.
Previously reported by Dajiyuan, the woman named Lea Rose Fiega bought a “Diamond Millions” scratch card for $30 at a convenience store.
In a rush, she quickly scratched the card and didn’t think it was a winner, so she handed it over to the store clerk to throw away. However, it was placed behind the counter and forgotten for 10 days.
Later, the store owner’s son, Abhi Shah, discovered that the ticket was worth $1 million. Knowing that Fiega was a regular customer, they made a special effort to inform her at her workplace that she had won.
Grateful for the store’s proactive notification of her win, Fiega said, “They are wonderful people. I feel very fortunate.”
