Videos circulating on mainland China’s internet on the 18th showed that near Jinyuan Middle Road in Dalian, Liaoning, a public bus lost control and crashed into the entrance of a local Industrial and Commercial Bank, with the front of the bus entering the bank’s lobby and injuring passengers on board. At the scene of the incident, many onlookers gathered.
Authorities in Jinpu District of Dalian reported that around 8 a.m. on the 18th, a driver named Cheng was driving a public bus along Jinyuan Street in Dalian from north to south in the development zone. When approaching the intersection of Jinyuan Middle Road, a small sedan in the same direction suddenly changed lanes to turn right. The bus tried to maneuver to avoid it but failed, resulting in a scrape, loss of control, and crashing into the entrance of a bank on the southwest side of the intersection.
The report stated that there were a total of 49 passengers on the bus, who were taken to the hospital for examination. Five passengers were hospitalized, with one in serious condition.
According to “Focus News,” on the morning of the 18th, several nearby shop owners indicated that the scene had been cleared, and the bus was no longer there. Emergency center staff mentioned that several ambulances arrived at the scene, and the injured had been taken to multiple hospitals.
As reported by the “Beijing News,” a shop owner near the incident site mentioned that around 8 a.m., while working in the store, he heard a commotion outside. Upon running out of the shop, he saw a No. 5 bus mounting the sidewalk and crashing into the right side of the bank’s door. The shop owner noted that the incident occurred at an intersection, and he witnessed injured passengers from the bus being helped down one after another.
