The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) Committee in South Korea announced on the 22nd that the popular South Korean boy band BTS, through proceeds from merchandise and albums, along with fans, have collectively raised donations of 8.9 billion Korean won (approximately 2.3 billion New Taiwan dollars / 699 million U.S. dollars) for the “LOVE MYSELF” campaign.
“LOVE MYSELF” is an initiative that began in 2017 with a social contribution agreement between the UNICEF South Korea Committee and BTS’ management company, BIGHIT MUSIC. Besides embodying the message of “to love others, you must first love yourself,” fans also donate through the campaign’s “#ENDviolence” initiative to help prevent violence against children and adolescents and assist in the recovery of those affected by violence.
In 2024, the two parties renewed their collaboration and launched the second phase of the “LOVE MYSELF” campaign, called “#OnMyMind.” This initiative aims to address the mental health of children and adolescents worldwide.
Since 2017, BTS and fans have donated proceeds from related merchandise and albums to the “LOVE MYSELF” campaign, reaching a total of 8.9 billion Korean won.
