Brooklyn South Subway Line F to Suspend Service for 8 Weekends

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) announced on June 22 that the subway F line in southern Brooklyn will undergo signal upgrade work between July 5 and September 16. During this period, the F line will be rerouted or run express between certain subway stations. Passengers can use the MTA mobile app or visit the MTA website and other channels to access real-time service updates.

Construction crews will install the “Communications-Based Train Control” system (CBTC) between Church Ave subway station and West 8th St-NY Aquarium station in Coney Island. Therefore, on the weekends following July 5, the F train will only run between Jamaica-179 St station in Queens and Church Ave station.

For passengers affected between Church Ave station and Coney Island-Stillwell Ave station, the MTA will provide free shuttle buses.

The planned weekends for the suspension of the subway F line in southern Brooklyn are as follows (subject to change):

– July 5 to July 8; July 12 to July 15
– August 9 to August 12; August 16 to August 19; August 23 to August 26; August 30 to September 3 (Labor Day weekend)
– September 6 to September 9; September 13 to September 16

In addition to the planned weekend work, F train service will be affected on the following dates (subject to change):

– July 1 to July 13: F trains heading to Coney Island will run express between Church Ave station and Kings Highway station.
– August 5 to August 17: F train service heading to Manhattan will run express between Kings Highway station and Church Ave station.
