Recently, the Shuian Longting Bridge in Sansui County, Qiandongnan, Guizhou Province, collapsed in an instant, with two sections of the bridge breaking apart with a loud roar. The day before, cracks had already appeared on the bridge deck.
On August 8th, a netizen captured the moment when the Shuian Longting Bridge in Sansui County collapsed, with shattered rocks falling into the water. Subsequently, the bridge started to crack and sink from the top of the central arch, with the water pipes of the bridge exposed and dust flying everywhere. Many people were watching nearby when the incident occurred, and upon seeing the situation, they immediately retreated. The person filming the scene also shouted, “Quick, get away from here!”
According to reports from Red Star News, the collapsed bridge, locally known as the Three Sui New Bridge, 103 Bridge, or Three Arch Bridge, collapsed on the evening of the 8th.
A local business near the Shuian Longting Bridge confirmed the collapse, stating that on the morning of the 7th, the bridge had been closed off. The crack on the bridge deck was approximately over twenty meters long, with a width that could fit fingers inside. However, as it couldn’t be examined closely, the exact dimensions of the crack could not be confirmed. The business owner mentioned, “Due to this incident, the water pipe broke, water was cut off last night (8th), and it was only restored this morning (9th).”
Local traffic police responded by stating that the bridge was built in the 1960s, and on the 7th, cracks appeared, leading to traffic restrictions being put in place.
