The newly elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced on Wednesday, December 4th, that Adam Boehler will serve as his special envoy for hostage affairs.
Trump took to his social media platform to announce, “I am pleased to announce that Adam Boehler will serve as my special envoy for hostage affairs, with the personal rank of ambassador. Boehler previously served as the chief negotiator in the Abraham Accords team.”
The team successfully brokered the Abraham Accords in 2020, a series of normalization agreements between Israel and Arab countries.
Trump wrote, “He (Boehler) has negotiated with some of the toughest people in the world, including the Taliban, but Boehler knows that nobody is tougher than the United States, at least during my presidency. Adam will work tirelessly to bring our great American citizens back home.”
Boehler is a graduate of the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. In Trump’s first term, Boehler was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the first CEO of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation.
