Breaking: At Least 4 Dead in Texas High School Shooting, Suspect in Custody

A shooting incident occurred at a high school in Georgia, United States on Wednesday (September 4th), resulting in at least 4 deaths. According to reports citing law enforcement sources by CNN, the shooting incident at Apalachee High School has claimed at least 4 lives and left around 30 people injured.

As per MSNBC, quoting unnamed law enforcement officials, the shooting took place at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia. Apart from 2 fatalities, 4 others have been injured.

The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office stated in a release that a suspect has been apprehended.

A spokesperson for Barrow County Schools mentioned that the situation appears to be under control and students were dismissed around noon.

Live TV footage showed multiple ambulances parked outside the high school campus where the incident occurred.

A CNN reporter witnessed a person being airlifted to the school via a medical helicopter.

The county office stated, “Around 10:23 a.m., personnel from multiple law enforcement agencies and fire/EMS were dispatched to the high school for an active shooter situation.”

Jenna Sellitto, spokesperson for the FBI’s Atlanta office, mentioned that the FBI has dispatched agents to the high school incident site to support local law enforcement efforts.

In the past two decades, there have been hundreds of shooting incidents on American campuses, the deadliest being the 2007 Virginia Tech shooting, which resulted in over 30 fatalities. This massacre sparked intense debates on U.S. gun laws and the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
