Hollywood actor Brad Pitt and his ex-wife, actress Angelina Jolie, recently made headlines as their 18-year-old daughter Shiloh announced her decision to change her last name from Jolie-Pitt to Jolie. Shiloh took the step of hiring a lawyer and filing a formal request with the Los Angeles County Superior Court to make the name change official. She placed a classified ad in the Los Angeles Times to publicly declare her intention to drop her father’s surname.
According to a report by the Los Angeles Times on July 22, Shiloh, who previously lent her voice to the animated film “Kung Fu Panda 3,” submitted the name change application shortly after celebrating her 18th birthday on May 27. The legal notice published in the Los Angeles Times on July 8 indicated that Shiloh’s full name currently includes Nouvel and Jolie-Pitt, but she desires to be known as Shiloh Nouvel Jolie.
The publication of such notices is a standard procedure in the locality for name changes. If no written objections are raised after the publication and there are no disputes, the court may approve the request without holding a formal hearing. However, if any objections are received, the legal process regarding Shiloh’s name change will continue accordingly.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s relationship started during the filming of “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” in 2005, leading to their engagement and subsequent marriage in August 2014. However, their union faced challenges soon after, and in 2016, Jolie filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences and alleging misconduct by Pitt towards their children. Despite Pitt not being charged after investigations, the couple finalized their divorce. In 2022, Pitt filed a lawsuit against Jolie concerning the ownership of a vineyard.
Jolie, who has been involved in the vineyard legal battle with Pitt for two years, is reportedly seeking reconciliation with her ex-husband and appealing for him to drop the lawsuit to bring peace to their family.
Shiloh, born on May 27, 2006, in Namibia, stirred controversy in Hollywood from an early age due to her high-profile parents. As the third eldest among the six children of Pitt and Jolie, she is the eldest among their three biological children. Apart from adopting Maddox, Pax, and Zahara, the couple has their three biological children, including Shiloh and twins Knox and Vivienne.
Despite the family drama, Brad Pitt has remained focused on his work. On July 19, he was spotted in Budapest, Hungary, attending an F1 race as part of the filming for his upcoming movie “F1.” Pitt appeared cheerful as he interacted with fans and waved to the crowd, showing his dedication to his craft amid personal challenges.
