BoA and Kim Sun Ho Donate to Help Children and Teens with Cancer

Recently, South Korean singer BoA and actor Kim Sun-ho both made donations to help underprivileged children and teenagers. Kim Sun-ho has donated 100 million Korean won (approximately 259,000 New Taiwan Dollars / 79,000 US Dollars) for the second consecutive year, to assist teenagers facing the end of their protection period in becoming self-reliant.

South Korea celebrated Children’s Day on May 5th, and celebrities such as IU, Park Bo-young, Kim Go-eun, EXO’s Park Chan-yeol, Han Ji-min, Ahn Hyo-seop, ATEEZ’s Hongjoong, Ko Min-si, among others, chose to donate to help disadvantaged children during this special occasion.

On the 8th, SM Entertainment announced that their artist BoA has donated 50 million Korean won (approximately 129,000 New Taiwan Dollars / 40,000 US Dollars) to Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital to support the treatment of children with cancer.

BoA stated, “All children deserve to live happily, so I want to provide some help to those in need. I have been loved by many since I was young, so I want to give back that love by donating.” Last January, she also donated 100 million Korean won to help teenagers who need to become self-reliant after leaving the protection period.

The Korean Red Cross announced on the 8th that South Korean actor Kim Sun-ho, following last year, has also donated 100 million Korean won this year to aid teenagers preparing to become independent after ending their protection period.

Last year, the 100 million Korean won donated by Kim Sun-ho was used by the Korean Red Cross to help 146 teenagers prepare for independence by purchasing essentials, study materials, exam fees, medical expenses, improving living conditions, and organizing a Healing Camp program to stabilize the teenagers’ minds. This year, Kim Sun-ho’s donation will also provide tangible assistance to teenagers in need of independence.

Kim Sun-ho will donate the proceeds from his 2023 Asia tour fan meeting, the recipient of which was decided by fan votes to help teenagers preparing for independence. Kim Sun-ho has been assisting these teenagers for two consecutive years.

Regarding this donation, Kim Sun-ho expressed his gratitude towards all the Seonhohada (official fan club) members who participated, saying, “Thanks to everyone who participated, I was able to make this donation. I sincerely appreciate the fans who participated with a good mindset. For the teenagers who are about to start a new chapter and prepare for independence, I hope to instill more hope than anxiety in them, cheer them on as they take their first step into society, and provide some practical help.”
