Blue Bell recalls ice cream without allergen labeling in 16 states in the US.

On August 22 (last Friday), Blue Bell Creameries released a press release on its official website announcing the voluntary recall of a batch of incorrectly packaged half-gallon ice creams.

The ice cream that needs to be recalled mistakenly packed their “Moo-llennium Crunch” ice cream into the half-gallon containers of “Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough” ice cream, but the lid on the containers displayed “Moo-llennium Crunch” rather than the correct flavor.

“Moo-llennium Crunch” ice cream is a classic vanilla flavor released by Blue Bell to celebrate the new millennium, featuring dark chocolate chunks, creamy caramel chunks, toasted walnuts, and chopped almonds and pecans.

The company explained in the press release that the recall was initiated after an employee discovered packaging issues with two half-gallon containers while restocking for retailers.

Blue Bell stated that the reason for the recall was the lack of labeling of almonds, pecans, and walnuts on the packaging. Since the “Moo-llennium Crunch” ice cream contains these nut ingredients, individuals allergic to almonds, pecans, and walnuts could experience severe allergic reactions, potentially life-threatening.

The company issued an allergy alert, urging for an immediate release, stating that the mispackaged ice cream was incorrectly placed in half-gallon containers labeled as Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, and featured lids for Moo-llennium Crunch without indicating the nut ingredients. The top of the lids of this recalled half-gallon ice cream batch carries the code: 061027524. Please refer to the images of the recalled products below.

Blue Bell announced that the affected half-gallon ice creams were sold in retail stores in 16 states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida Panhandle, Northwest Georgia, Southern Indiana, Southern Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, and Southwest Virginia.

According to the solution provided by Blue Bell, consumers who have purchased these products can return them to the point of purchase and receive a full refund.
