Bilibili and Xiaohongshu Trending as Servers Crash, Alibaba Cloud Response

On July 2nd at noon, “Xiaohongshu crashed” and “Bilibili crashed” trended on Weibo. In response, Alibaba Cloud stated that there was an abnormal network access in the N region of Shanghai.

In the morning of July 2nd, Bilibili platform experienced service issues.

According to reports from “First Financial Daily,” the Bilibili app was unable to browse history, follow content, and other functions. The messaging interface, update interface, and customer service interface were all inaccessible, and users were unable to comment, send bullet comments, load video comment sections, or access user (UP master) pages on the platform.

The Bilibili customer service interface displayed that some functions were experiencing malfunctions and emergency repairs were underway, advising users to try again later. Bilibili has faced server crashes multiple times this year, causing disruptions to user access, with the official explanation attributing the incidents to high server loads.

Tests conducted by IT Home revealed that attempting to access user pages on Bilibili would show a -500 error code, while the video comment section constantly displayed “loading.” Additionally, users’ viewing history, collections, and other content were also not displaying, indicating that this error likely affected user-related system services.

Shortly after, many netizens reported that “Xiaohongshu crashed,” with the platform failing to refresh recommended content. Xiaohongshu customer service mentioned that feedback regarding the issue had been recorded and would be promptly reviewed for resolution, advising users to try again later.

According to feedback from Alibaba Cloud’s Customer Service Center, at 10:04 on July 2, 2024, Beijing time, monitoring by Alibaba Cloud detected abnormal network access in the N network of the Shanghai region. Engineers from Alibaba Cloud were urgently working on resolving the issue.

By 10:35, Alibaba Cloud engineers completed network traffic adjustment, leading to the restoration of network access in the N region of Shanghai. At 10:42, after processing, the affected product services were restored.

This incident sparked discussions among netizens.
