Vice President Kamala Harris hosted a Democratic fundraising event in Massachusetts on Saturday. Biden, who tested positive for COVID, is currently isolating and receiving treatment at his home in Delaware.
According to Reuters, three Democratic fundraisers mentioned that the Massachusetts event attended by Harris is expected to raise $2 million. The event, hosted by celebrity wedding planner Bryan Rafanelli, is expected to draw about 800 attendees.
Sources mentioned that Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is expected to speak at the event.
Biden’s doctor released a statement on Saturday updating the president’s health condition. The doctor stated that Biden still has mild symptoms of COVID, such as cough and hoarseness, but his vital signs are normal and he continues to work.
Two individuals familiar with fundraising events mentioned that Biden’s campaign team aims to raise approximately $50 million in large donations in July, but as of Friday, the fund has not reached half of the target.
The campaign team stated that reports of a decline in July fundraising are exaggerated, noting that large donations typically decrease during holiday periods. Biden’s campaign team has plans for 10 fundraising events this month.
