Belgian Privacy Regulatory Authority Receives Complaints Against DeepSeek

Belgian privacy regulators announced on Monday (February 3) that they have received complaints against the Chinese artificial intelligence company DeepSeek and are considering launching an investigation.

The spokesperson stated, “We can confirm that we have received complaints against DeepSeek, although we are unable to comment on the complaints currently being processed.”

Previously, the Luxembourg data protection authority CNPD stated that they had not received any complaints yet but might review how DeepSeek handles user data together with European counterparts.

A CNPD spokesperson mentioned, “CNPD is aware of the recent release of DeepSeek 3 and the potential risks this service may pose to Luxembourg users.”

He added, “CNPD is exploring the possibility of analyzing how DeepSeek handles personal data at both the national and European levels, in collaboration with counterparts from the European Data Protection Board.”
