Beijing human rights activist Lin Chunfen goes missing after being sent back to her hometown.

On October 10, 2025, Beijing human rights activist Lin Chunfen was sent back to Shiyan, Hubei by the Beijing police before the CCP’s “September 3 Parade”, and has since disappeared without any news.

Lin Chunfen is originally from Danjiangkou City, Shiyan, Hubei, where her house was forcibly demolished due to the South-to-North Water Diversion Project. Local officials seized and embezzled compensation funds, leading to unresolved compensation terms. Over the years, she has been persistently advocating for her rights, facing repression.

Before being deported back to Hubei, Lin Chunfen told Epoch Times that her family’s house and land were expropriated and relocated. Authorities cited her status as a married-out woman as a reason for not compensating her.

In September 2010, local government officials wanted to demolish her house. Lin Chunfen’s parents were beaten for resisting, and in desperation, she set herself on fire with gasoline in protest, but it did not stop the demolition.

Despite facing obstacles, Lin Chunfen continued to petition, but local officials deceived higher authorities by claiming she had already been granted immigrant status. “Now I have immigrant status, but I have not received any of the benefits.”

Lin Chunfen is one of the migrants affected by the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, which required relocation of residents from their original homes.

Lin Chunfen revealed that a large amount of compensation funds for South-to-North Water Diversion migrants were embezzled by local officials through collusion. Many town secretaries and village chiefs provided immigrant status to those who did not qualify, exploiting the migrant project to swindle funds.

In 2018, Lin Chunfen registered her marriage with her Beijing husband and became a resident of Beijing, but she was still under strict control by local authorities. In 2019, she was arrested by the Shiyan police in Beijing. In September 2020, she was sentenced to four years in prison for “picking quarrels and provoking trouble” by the Danjiangkou City Court in Hubei Province.

After her release from prison, Lin Chunfen continued to appeal, becoming a target of strict control in both Beijing and Hubei. She stated, “I accuse the Danjiangkou government, the police who arrested me, the prosecutor’s office that charged me, and the court that tried me. I am not guilty, and I do not accept anybody’s judgment.”

Lin Chunfen mentioned that the police openly fabricated evidence. For instance, in the first-instance judgment, the witnesses provided by the prosecution, Jiang Houjie, Du Hecheng, and Wu Hanming, declared in early 2025 that they had never given any testimony and no police officers had approached them, indicating that the testimonies in the judgment were fabricated.

Prior to the CCP’s September 3 Parade, the Shiyan police requested Lin Chunfen to be sent back, while the Beijing police strictly monitored her residence, guarding it 24/7 and restricting her movements. On August 17, the authorities cut off Lin Chunfen’s home internet, preventing her from speaking out. On August 23, during her attendance at a Christian family church gathering, police officers followed her and took her away. Eventually, she was sent back to Shiyan.

Before departing, Lin Chunfen expressed that if there is no news of her upon returning, it may indicate that she is being controlled. Nevertheless, she vowed to hold those responsible accountable. “What I am fighting for is to be acquitted and to hold accountable for the fabricated evidence.”
