On Sunday, February 9th, ahead of the annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL) known as the Super Bowl, President Trump released a statement praising the perseverance and spirit of unity of the two competing teams and emphasizing national unity and cohesion.
President Trump was set to attend the Super Bowl game that evening in New Orleans, where the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles would go head-to-head in what promised to be an exciting matchup.
In a statement issued before the game, President Trump expressed his excitement to be present at the Super Bowl. He stated, “I look forward to joining the fans in New Orleans to watch the 59th edition of the Super Bowl, cheering on the two great teams – the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles – as they battle it out to win the Vince Lombardi Trophy.”
“The coaches, players, and team staff standing on the field tonight represent the elite of the professional football world, embodying the essence of the American dream. Their hard work, dedication, and resilience are admirable, and their personal journeys and the drive and determination that led them to this extraordinary moment are inspiring. As we uphold the safety and fairness of sports, as well as equal opportunities among teams, they also represent the hopes and dreams of young athletes in our country,” President Trump said.
“Football is the most popular sport in America for good reason – it fosters a sense of national unity, bringing families, friends, and fans together, strengthening community cohesion. This annual tradition transcends our differences, embodying our shared patriotic values: family, faith, and freedom, all of which our military personnel, law enforcement officers, and emergency responders bravely defend. We cherish their dedication to protecting our great nation and salute their selfless service,” President Trump added.
President Trump also mentioned that this year, the Super Bowl would return to the Caesars Superdome stadium, with millions of fans across the country gathering in New Orleans to cheer on their favorite teams. However, amidst the excitement, it was crucial to remember the 14 families who lost loved ones in the New Year terrorist attacks and the 35 injured.
“Tonight, we anticipate an exciting game and crown the Super Bowl champions. Melania and I extend our best wishes for Sunday’s Super Bowl. May the best team win, and may God bless you, your families, and the United States of America,” he concluded.
