A shooting incident occurred in Baltimore, Maryland on Saturday night, August 9th, resulting in the death of a 38-year-old man and injuries to five others, including a 5-year-old girl.
According to Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley, the shooting took place around 8:50 p.m. on Saturday as people were gathered near the intersection of Spaulding Avenue and Queensberry Avenue enjoying a crab feast.
The 5-year-old girl sustained a gunshot wound to her hand, but fortunately, “her injuries do not appear to be serious,” while another unidentified injured man is in critical condition, as disclosed by Worley during a late-night press conference on Saturday.
In an update released by the police on Sunday, it was announced that the 38-year-old man, who was hospitalized in critical condition, had passed away on Sunday morning. The police have not yet revealed his identity.
Among the other injured individuals are a 23-year-old woman, along with three men aged 32, 33, and 52. The police stated on Sunday that it is believed their injuries are “not life-threatening.”
The police have classified the incident as a mass shooting.
No details about the suspect(s) involved in the shooting have been disclosed by the authorities thus far.
“We have very little information at this point. We just know there were multiple shots fired and multiple victims,” stated Worley on Saturday.
Worley mentioned that the motive behind the shooting is still under investigation.
He described a scene where a small group of people appeared to be sitting on a porch outside a residence enjoying crab when “it looks like someone started shooting.”
