In Australia, a woman broke the Guinness World Record by completing 7,079 pull-ups within 24 hours, showcasing her exceptional physical fitness. The achievement of Olivia Vinson, a 34-year-old woman, surpassed the previous record set by Paula Gorlo from Poland in 2021 by a significant margin, as reported by the Guinness World Records website.
On average, Vinson had to complete about 5 pull-ups per minute to achieve this incredible feat. Initially, she thought the challenge suggested by her husband and coach was impossible, but after some calculations, she realized that success might be within reach.
After three months of training, she attempted the record in September 2024 but had to abandon the challenge after injuring her left bicep muscle during the 12th hour. The injury forced her to rest for two months before resuming several months of training.
For this attempt, she set a timer to beep every 45 seconds and created a schedule next to her to keep track of how many pull-ups she should do in each round.
Despite thorough preparation, the challenge was not smooth sailing. After 19 hours, she felt nauseous, likely due to extreme fatigue-induced bodily response. However, she persevered until the last moment, breaking the world record and altering her perspective on life.
Vinson expressed, “I believe breaking limits embodies profound humanity, and world records provide a clear marker of human potential. Looking ahead, this has actually compelled me to question everything I thought I couldn’t do.”
Furthermore, in mainland China, a young woman also recently shattered a world record related to pull-ups. Xie Ting, a 22-year-old, achieved 44 pull-ups within one minute earlier this year, surpassing the previous record for “most pull-ups in one minute (female).”
Although she broke the world record, Xie Ting is not entirely satisfied and believes there is room for improvement. She hopes to surpass the record again in the future.
Born in Jiangxi and residing in Guangdong, Xie Ting is a self-media blogger who frequently shares fitness and lifestyle content online. Holding a fitness trainer qualification, she plans to engage in more sports-related work in the future.
She stated, “Exercise not only enhances physical fitness but also strengthens our inner selves.”
