On July 22nd, in Jinan, Shandong Province, the Laiwu District was hit by heavy rainfall. The villages of Shiwuzi in Da Wangzhuang Town and Zhujia Yu were affected by flash floods, resulting in at least 2 deaths and 10 people missing.
According to a video posted by netizens, a torrential rain in the Sanjie area of Laiwu caused significant damage. The video showed roads being washed away, bridges collapsing, and several cars being swept off.
The Laiwu District Emergency Management Bureau reported that from 0:00 to 5:00 on July 22nd, the area experienced heavy rainfall with the maximum precipitation reaching 364 millimeters. As a result, the villages of Shiwuzi in Da Wangzhuang Town and Zhujia Yu were hit by flash floods, destroying and damaging 19 houses, leading to 2 deaths and 10 people missing.
Public records indicate that Shiwuzi village in Da Wangzhuang Town has 97 mu of arable land, 7400 mu of mountain area, with a total of 81 households and 205 residents. Zhujia Yu village has 290 mu of arable land, 5000 mu of mountainous area, and a population of 621.
Reported by Interface News, both villages are located within the Xiangshan International Tourism Resort in Shandong, which was closed on July 21st. Due to severe road damage, access to Shiwuzi and Zhujia Yu villages and other areas was impassable.
Furthermore, the Jinan Railway Bureau announced that due to heavy rainfall on July 22nd at 9:10 am, trains on the Jin-Chao line from Yun Cheng Station to Liangshan Station were delayed to varying degrees, including K732, K892, and T182.
Currently, the local rainfall has ceased, but the weather forecast indicates possible showers in the afternoon or evening.
At 6:00 on July 22nd, the Jinan Meteorological Observatory continued to issue a yellow warning for heavy rain, and a red warning was issued for Laiwu District. The Jinan Meteorological Observatory forecasted that today (the 22nd) would be overcast with scattered thunderstorms turning into locally heavy to torrential rain, with a 70% chance of precipitation until tomorrow.
