Following the incident, the topic “Multiple law enforcement officers in Jiangxi beat a man” started trending on Weibo on September 12, eliciting strong reactions from many mainland Chinese netizens.

Some netizens expressed their frustration, saying, “I am from Jiangxi. The city management officers in Jiangxi are notorious for being like bandits, even local bullies can become city management officers. They lack the basic qualities of law enforcement officers, beating people and breaking the weighing scales of elderly vendors are common occurrences. Many vegetable vendors in Jiangxi are elderly, they can’t even get up after being pushed to the ground for half a day. They work day and night but earn very little money, and yet they are bullied by city management officers. It’s heartbreaking to see.”

Others commented, “This is like the mafia, anyone can join the law enforcement team,” “They are dressed in official uniforms but behaving like the mafia,” “These are not law enforcement officers, they are completely thugs,” “Down with bureaucracy!” and “Regardless of the reason, those who beat others should be detained, and law enforcement officers are no exception.”

The incident has sparked widespread condemnation and calls for accountability for the actions of the law enforcement officers involved. The online community continues to closely follow developments in the case as authorities investigate the matter.
