On November 28, 2024, according to a notification from the Anhui Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision, Gu Jingsong, the Secretary of the Party Working Committee and the Director of the Management Committee of the Tongling Economic and Technological Development Zone, is suspected of serious violations of discipline and law and is under investigation.
Gu Jingsong, 55 years old, previously worked in the construction department of Tongling City and served as the Secretary-General of the Municipal Government. In 2022, he assumed the positions of Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Management Committee of the Tongling Economic and Technological Development Zone.
The investigation of Gu Jingsong means that of the seven top leaders in the Tongling Economic and Technological Development Zone since 2009, six have been investigated. Besides Gu Jingsong, the other five individuals are Cui Yuqi, Liu Qilu, Wang Yijun, Du Shuqi, and Huang Huafeng.
According to the WeChat public account “Chat Bureau,” Cui Yuqi served as the Deputy Mayor of Tongling City and the Director of the Management Committee and Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Tongling Economic and Technological Development Zone from 2009 to 2011. He was taken down in July 2017 and sentenced to 11 years and 6 months in 2023.
Liu Qilu served as the Secretary of the Party Working Committee, Secretary of the Disciplinary Committee, and Deputy Director of the Management Committee of the Tongling Economic and Technological Development Zone (at the county level) from 2011 to 2012. He was taken down in November 2018 and sentenced to 6 years in 2019.
Wang Yijun held the position of Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Management Committee of the Tongling Economic and Technological Development Zone from 2012 to 2016. He was taken down in July 2017 and sentenced to 12 years in 2019.
Du Shuqi served as the Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Management Committee of the Tongling Economic and Technological Development Zone from 2016 to 2020. He was taken down in February 2024 and expelled from the party in August.
Huang Huafeng served as a member of the Tongling Municipal Committee and Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Tongling Economic and Technological Development Zone from 2020 to 2021. He was taken down in March 2024 and expelled from the party in August.
Public information shows that the Tongling Economic and Technological Development Zone was established in July 1992 and currently has more than 1,800 enterprises of various types, including five multi-billion companies, five companies listed on the main board, 72 companies listed on the New Third Board and New Fourth Board, and 171 large-scale enterprises.
